Skills Training - Marijuana, Anxiety, and Sex

Anxiety is the most common underlying cause of difficulties with sexual functioning. With nearly half of the United States having legalized recreational marijuana use, it is no surprise that many of our clients are utilizing marijuana as a strategy for coping with anxiety, both inside and outside of the bedroom. In the first half of this training, participants will gain a key foundational understanding of the relationship between anxiety and sexual functioning. In the second half of this training, participants will focus in on marijuana and what the research has to tell us about its benefits, risks, relationship to anxiety, and relationship to sex and intimacy.

Join us via Zoom to participate in this training. Participants must attend in full to be eligible to receive CE credit for the course. This course is only available to attend live, and will not be recorded for later viewing.

Participants who are enrolled in South Shore Sexual Health Center’s Sex Therapy Training Program should email info@ssshealthcenter.com to register for this course.

Anxiety and desire are poor partners in bed. In this three-hour course, participants will deepen their understanding of anxiety’s impact on sexual functioning and relational intimacy. The training examines how anxiety manifests at both the individual and couple levels, including its developmental roots, attachment influences, cognitive patterns, and physiological arousal processes. Participants will explore how anxiety disrupts embodiment, interferes with desire, and shapes relational dynamics within sexual contexts.
