In an age of increasing authoritarianism, sexuality is on the frontlines. Sexuality is manipulated to consolidate power by promoting heteronormativity, suppressing sexual diversity, reinforcing gender roles, and creating sexual hierarchies. As part of a marginalized community, older adults are uniquely challenged by many forces, including ageism. In this session, we will discuss theory, current research, grief, loss, and death, as well as case studies applicable to your work with older adults in sex therapy. Taught by a sex therapist, Sarah Rogers, LICSW, CST and a sexuality educator, Jane Fleishman, PhD, CSE. This fast-paced and intriguing session offers a frank perspective on the issues facing older adults’ sexuality and practical tools to assist you in your work.
