September 15, 2026: Couples and Sex Therapy

$120.00

Presented by: Joseph Winn MSW, LICSW, CST-S

Couples make up a large percentage of the client population seeking sex therapy. However, couples and sex therapy remain areas requiring specific models and conceptualizations that move beyond the application of individual psychotherapy skill to relational processes. This course will provide an opportunity for participants to develop an appreciation of family systems theory, its impact on attachment theory, and the evolution of differentiation as foundations of sex and relational therapy. This foundational material will then be applied to assessment, formulation, and supporting strong therapeutic leadership for working with couples in sex therapy. Other topics to be discussed will include working with enactments, Person of The Therapist issues, the clinician’s own sexological world view, and the use of various forms of confrontation. This course will utilize a combination of lecture, discussion, and small group exercises to experiment with the application of theory to clinical practice.
