In this training, a sex therapist, a pelvic floor physical therapist, and a nurse practitioner will provide an interdisciplinary look at the causes and treatment of genitopelvic pain. Participants will have an opportunity to hone in on the biological part of the biopsychosocial model, learning about the pelvic floor and about the possible roles played by hormones, brain chemistry (neurotransmitters), blood flow, muscle tension, and more in the experience of sexual function and sexual pain. Additionally, participants will learn about how sex therapists can work with clients experiencing genitopelvic pain, when to refer a client for a medical evaluation, what happens during pelvic floor physical therapy, and how to collaborate with pelvic health providers and other medical professionals as part of a collaborative, whole-person approach to client care.
Join us via Zoom to participate in this training. Participants must attend in full to be eligible to receive CE credit for the course. This course is only available to attend live, and will not be recorded for later viewing.
